✨ Top Three Hidden Museums in Budapest 🎟️
I grew up in Budapest and slowly got to discover some seriously underrated museums — here are my top picks 👇
🎋 Szemlő-hegyi Cave
A hidden cave system right under Budapest! 🕳️ It was discovered by accident during a construction in 1930, and today it operates as a fascinating underground museum.
🎫 Tickets: 3600 HUF (~€9 / $11)
💬 Fun fact: I first went here for a birthday party in elementary school — and I still remember telling everyone it was the coolest thing ever 😄
🎰 Pinball Museum
Born from one person’s dream — this museum lets you play with dozens of pinball machines for as long as you want! From vintage to modern, it’s pure nostalgia.
🎫 Tickets: 5000 HUF (~€13 / $15)
💬 Storytime: When I was researching my Budapest Travel Guide, I went here with my dad — and we both had so much fun! He grew up beating these machines, while I was just figuring out how not to lose immediately 😅
🎼 Museum of Music History
Tucked away in the Castle District, this little gem offers such a unique perspective on classical music 🎻. Small but packed with fascinating instruments and stories from Hungarian and international musicians.
🎫 Tickets: 2000 HUF (~€5 / $6)
💬 From me: As someone who played piano for 8 years, this museum was such a treat — and when I visited, it was practically empty!
✨ I made it my mission to show the real, local side of Budapest to as many travellers as possible.
