Spain
This one is personal—really personal.
This isn’t just another destination for us. We’re not outsiders looking in — the Canary Islands are home. After moving here on a whim, we’ve discovered layers of Spain that rarely make it into classic travel guides. The kind of places, stories, and moments you only find when you slow down and look a little deeper.
Let’s start with the Canary Islands.
Most people think the Canaries are all about beach days and cocktails — but there’s a whole other side waiting to be explored. Take Fuerteventura, for example. Beyond its wild landscapes lies a fascinating (and controversial) Nazi-era building set against an astonishing natural backdrop. And then there’s the beach — hidden, untouched, and honestly one of the most beautiful stretches of sand we’ve ever seen. If you know, you know.
Now, let’s dive into Spain’s mainland. Vamos!
Barcelona:
A city brimming with history, beauty, and life. But here’s a question — when you visited the Sagrada Familia, did you count the columns? There’s a hidden meaning behind that number, and it’s far more intentional than it first seems. Barcelona is also home to some wonderfully unusual museums — including one where your entrance ticket is a literal chocolate bar. How’s that for unique?
Madrid
Bold, elegant, and endlessly layered. Madrid is often rushed or underestimated, but it rewards those who take the time to explore beyond the obvious. Hidden courtyards, historic neighbourhoods, local favourites, and viewpoints most visitors miss — this city has depth, soul, and stories everywhere you look.
We’ve created a dedicated Madrid travel guide for those who want to experience the city properly — with context, hidden gems, and a well-thought-out plan that goes beyond the highlights.
Andalusia:
Granada is one of our all-time favourites. Yes, the Alhambra is iconic — but have you explored the surrounding hikes or stumbled upon a hidden cemetery overlooking the city? Granada’s history often hides behind its picturesque streets, so don’t forget to look up… and around.
Seville is another treasure — vibrant, warm, and full of life. Did you know it’s home to Columbus’ final resting place? Or that you can watch authentic Flamenco for free if you know where to go? And for Game of Thrones fans, you’ll find filming locations scattered across the city. Winter did come to Seville — just not how you’d expect.
Santiago de Compostela:
You probably know it as the end of the Camino de Santiago, but do you know the story behind the Camino itself? Or the legend of the whispering bench? And if you want to reconnect with nature, don’t just walk through the city — walk under a forest of acacia flowers in a hidden park most visitors never find.
Spain is so much more than Barcelona, Madrid, and a typical beach holiday. From island hopping in the Canaries and epic road trips to uncovering history hidden in plain sight, we’re here to plan it all.
