Tanzania
This country… it left me completely lost for words so many times over.
There isn’t a single day where I don’t wish I could be back right now – and I’m saying this having been to over forty countries.
There is something different about Tanzania, and I believe it’s the people. Tanzanians are the kindest and most generous people I have ever met in my life. They give when they have nothing to give, and they help even when they receive absolutely nothing in return. And most importantly, they smile. Despite the circumstances many of them live in, they always seem happy – and greet you with the biggest smile, saying: Karibu Tanzania – welcome to Tanzania.
I spent three incredible weeks in Tanzania, filled to the brim with adventures – word for word. With an absolutely incredible team and an amazing friend, we climbed the highest free-standing mountain in the world – Mount Kilimanjaro. I wrote a blog post dedicated to just that – you can read it here.
And then I fulfilled an absolute dream – I went on a safari to Serengeti National Park, which was unbelievable. I stared in disbelief for four days straight. You can read what I wrote about it here.
Tanzania has taught me so much about the world – and inspired me to learn another language apart from the three I already speak: Swahili. While climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, we spent our time asking our incredible guides how to say certain words in Swahili, and I’m happy to report that I can confidently say: Nahitaji toto tembo – I would like a baby elephant. (Among another 150 very important words and expressions.)
Planning a trip to Tanzania is nothing short of challenging – there is so much noise on the internet, yet so little real information – and it is crucial to choose safari operators and Kilimanjaro guides who are truly professionals. If you have been dreaming about exploring the real Africa – you’re in the right place – I would be more than happy to help you plan your adventure.
And let this remain our little secret – but Beyond Trails & Tales group trips to this incredible country are very much in development. Sign up for the newsletter below to be among the first to hear about them.
