No Plans, Just Sicily: My Most Unplanned Trip Ever - Part 2

This is Patricia in September finishing this story.

So, we quite literally left off when I was boarding that plane. So many things were circling in my head, as the plane took off. I was just in the middle of setting up my website, and sorting out the legal bits of how to start a business.

For five hours straight I was writing down notes, articles, ideas.

After landing in Bologna an hour after midnight – I knew I didn’t have the money or the time to go to a hotel, as my next flight to Sicily was leaving in five hours. As I sat in one of the metal chairs I was daydreaming about how my life will be as a businesswoman – (I’m proud to tell you, it’s even better than what I was imagining eight months ago)

By the time I boarded the next plane, I was beyond tired – immediately fell asleep after take-off. When I landed – I could not stop myself tearing up.

Got on that bus heading to Taormina – texted my best friend, who was still fast asleep.

An hour later I was running towards her, both of us in a complete shock that we actually made this happen.

We spent the day sipping espressos and eating one too many cannoli. Then got a bottle of wine – and sitting at the hostel’s terrace we realized how incredible our lives are, and how incredibly happy we are that we always dared to dream big.

If I learned one thing from this adventure is to ask that question. Because if you never ask, the answer is a hundred percent going to be a no. But if you ask, especially when you have nothing to lose, you would be surprised how many times people answer with a maybe or a yes.

(As a side info, I’m in the middle of writing to news outlets about my story as a 24-year-old small business owner – because guess what, I have NOTHING to lose.)
